A quick thanks from Kiwiland to the good folks who've answered so far. It has been a big help to me.

Keilig is short for the book "Die Generale des Heeres" by Wolf Keilig, a one volume biographical dictionary of all the German generals of World War II. The above paragraph about De Boer is an example of an entry from Keilig. The book is out of print and copies can be pricey. You can check http://www.dealoz.com or http://www.addall.com (used and rare) to see if you can turn up an affordable copy. Published by Podzun-Pallas Verlag in 1983, It has some errors and omissions (of individual generals' command assignments; very few generals have been left out- about nine, and most of them were posthumous promotions of Obersts anyway) but in general is the best one volume source. Keilig also did a three volume set called Das Deutsche Heer 1933-1945 which I haven't seen.

Likewise when someone mentions Bradley they mean the series "Die General des Heeres 1921-1945" published by Bidlio Verlag, originally edited by Dermot Bradley. This set, seven volumes through the letter L so far, is incomplete and it's not known whether Biblio, evidently in trouble, will get it together to publish the remaining volumes- but it's the best source for the generals, listing their careers in detail- promotions, assignments, medals- and with a photo of each. It was no doubt compiled from the original officer personnel records in the Bundesarchiv-Militararchiv with augmentations. It does have some typos also though and a few omissions or inaccuracies.
Best regards,
Genstab
