Wear of Luftwaffe splittertarn FD jacket by Heer

Postby Slobo » Mon Mar 19, 2007 6:08 pm

When the Heer assumed control of the Luftwaffe Field Divisions in late 1943, did officers and men receive the splinter pattern field jacket? If so, did they leave the LW eagle on the breast (my understanding is that these jackets typically came with the LW eagle sewn to the breast at the factory), remove it, or replace it with the Heer eagle? Did they continue to wear heer insignia on their headgear, etc?

When the LW FD was turned over to the Heer, they were equipped with Heer equipment and even uniforms.

Thanks. So would new Heer recruits and transfers keep their heer insig, belts, etc.? Particulalry officers who I understand basically replaced existing LW officers as part of the takeover in 11/43?
