For those interested in future projects, this is what is currently "floating my boat" and what I hope to turn into books one day.

Shorter term
Norway 1940
France 1940
Breslau 1945
Königsberg, Kolberg, Danzig 1945
Caucasus 1942
Liege 1914

Longer term
North Africa
Kurland
Tannenberg
March offensive 1918
100 Days to Victory 1918

It would be interesting to come back to this list in a decade (providing, of course, Feldgrau is still around...)

Well Richard, the Breslau, Kaukasus, or Könisberg topic would be my choice... :D There are already many things written about the french campaign (at least in french) and north africa. Norway and Finland theater are quite poor too, especially the finnish front.

Well, Richard, Kolberg or the Battle in Danzig- Gotenhafen would be an interesting topic for our english readers, as the still existing publications in english, as far as I was able to overview it, are rather lousy and poor :D

Good olde Fullriede would be proud

Richard, I have to go with Olivier and J-H on this one! More in-depth analyses of the ever-shrinking Ostfront would be good! The early western campaigns have pretty much been done to death, unless you've unearthed some previously unknown information.

The Festungen of Ostpreußen deserve better treatment.

Ach, Kinder, die Strasse nach überall führt nach nirgends! :D

I have a lot of material for Breslau (not least a complete collection of Gleiss' Breslauer Apokalypse  which cost a fortune) but no primary material (which means at least one trip to Freiburg, possibly two) and I've not translated anything yet. A handful of piccies to date, but nothing more.

I have a fair-sized collection of books on Danzig/Kolberg/Königsberg (and it's a much broader subject than Breslau :( ), but again no primary material, and nothing's been translated as yet. No pictures though. :(

I have a lot of material on Norway and shedloads on France 1940, almost of all of which hasn't been translated into English before, so there is new stuff to say. I also have loads of images for both campaigns. Both could be turned around relatively quickly and would be logical successors to Poland.

I guess I'll decide in the next month or so. I've also got to sort out putting up my own website at last. I've had the domain for nearly three years... and done nothing with it. :(

Hi Jan-Hendrik

Oh, I'm sure it exists. I just don't have it in my possession... yet :-)

The only book I have is Johannes Voelker, Die letzten Tage von Kolberg. Oh, and the Viet Harlan film

Hi Richard -

Erich Murawski wrote about Kolberg extensively in his book "Die Eroberung Pommerns durch die Rote Armee," published 1969 by Harald Boldt Verlag.

Might be worth checking out to see if there's anything in it, but it is the most referenced work when it comes to the Soviet offensive in Pommerania. I used to have a copy of it but sold it 3 years ago due to a defect - (half of the book was printed upside down!) Should have held on to it, since I haven't found a copy since...

You may have to search the web for a copy - try http://www.amazon.de/Eroberung-Pommerns ... 246&sr=1-5

Cheers,
Doug Nash

Hi Jan-Hendrik,

Don't think you sent Fullriede (or I may have lost it), but I'm sure we can do our usual swap of stuff ;-)

Hi Doug,

I have Murawski's book (not read it yet, admittedly); I picked it up for a ridiculous price on abebooks (something like 5 Euros). Also very good is Lindenblatt's Pommern 1945.

I do have lots of letters from Soviet troops from East Prussia/Pomerania.

The other literature I possess is:

Deichelmann, Ich sah Königsberg sterben
Hans-Jurgen Eitner, Kolberg: Ein preussischer Mythos
Wilckens, Hans Jurgen, Die Grosse Not
Pantenius, Hans Jurgen, Letzte Schlacht an der Ostfront
Reinoss, Herbert, Letzte Tage in Ostpreussen
Noe, Herbert, Dem Tod voraus: Ostpreussen 1945
Lasch, Otto, So fiel Königsberg
Dieckert and Grossman, Der Kampf um Ostpreussen
Schön, Heinz, Tragödie Ostpreussen
Schäufler, Hans, Der Weg war weit & Panzer an der Weichsel

plus some divisional histories.

It's a start... but there's a long way to go :)
