Marking in the German tanks - Poland 1939.

Post by tigre » Sat Nov 21, 2015 7:35 am

Hello to all :D; a little query.............................

Marking in the German tanks - Poland 1939.

AFAIK during this campaign, the German tanks carried the Balkan cross in white, but I've seen some pictures showing the Balkan cross in black and white like the 1940's style as early as the beginning of the Polish campaign (see below). I think that the Pz Abt 33 within the 4. Le Div carried that marking. What do you think about?............

Hello to all :D; a little more.............................

Marking in the German tanks - Poland 1939.

Something I've found in the web: here is shown the marking and numbering system, let me point out the white cross and numbers in the turret of PR 1 (1. Pz) and the two number code in the turret of the 5. Pz............

Contrast, before and after.

Same column later/after the campaign; the white cross was erased in the Panzerbefehlwagen I and in the other tanks the cross is notoriously more stylized.............................................
