Fall Gelb - May 1940.

On May 30, 1940, the unit was subordinated to the 12 AOK. Thus the axis of advance changed from west to south. Next day, on May 31, 1940, it was ordered that all vehicles should carry a divisional emblem. This measure was necessary to distinguish the vehicles of the different units that used the same routes of marching. As a Divisional emblem was chosen the "Hoernle". This was a modification of the ancient symbol of the Kingdom of Württemberg. It was four horns curving to the left. It had a length of 19 cm and 2.5 cm wide. The symbol had to be painted in the front and rear on all vehicles.
