To mention

to 3er Panzer Army:
General der Infanterie Gollwitzer, head of the LIII. Armee-Korps, captured the 28 of June near Vitebsk. It was released in 1955.
Generalmajor Müller-Büllow, head of the 246 Infanterie Division (LIII.Armee-Korps), captured the 27 of June.
Generalleutnant Alfons Hitter, head of the 206 Infanterie-Division (LIII Armée-Korps) captured the 28 of June. Released in 1955.
Generalmajor Herbert Michaelis, head of the 95 Captured Infanterie-Division 28 of June, released in 1955.

4o Army:
General der Infanterie Paul Völckers, head of XXVII the Armee-Korps, captured the 9 of July. Released in 1955.
Generalleutnant Hans Traut, head of the 78 Sturm-division (XXVII Armee-Korps), captured the 12 of July. Released in 1955.
Generalmajor Günther Klammt, head of the 260 Infanterie-Division (XXVII Armee-Korps), captured the 9 of July. Released in 1955.
Genetalleutnant Eberhardt von Kurowski, head of the 110 Infanterie-Division (XXXIX Panzer-Korps) captured at the beginning of July. Released in 1955.
Generalleutnant Rudolf Bamler, head of the 12 Infanterie-Division (XXXIX Panzer-Korps), captured 8 of July in Moghilev, adhered to the Committee of Free Germany. Released in 1955. It continued his race in the Eastern army of Germany.
Generalleutnant Wilhelm Ochsner, head of the 31 Infanterie-Division (XXXIX Panzer-Korps), captured at the end of June. Released in 1955.
Generalmajor Friedrich-Karl von Steinkeller, head of Panzergrenadier-Division „Feldherrnhalle “(XXXIX Panzer-Korps), captured the 8 of July. Released in 1955.
Generalleutnant Vincenz Müller, head of XII the Armee-Korps, captured the 9 of July. Released in 1948. It continued his race in the army of the FRG.
Generalmajor Adolf Trowitz, head of the 57 Infanterie-Division (XXVII Armee-Korps), captured the Southeast of Minsk the 7 of July. Released in 1955.
Generalmajor Gottfried vo Erdmannsdorff, commander of the place of Moghilev, captured the 30 of June. Court and hanged person in 1946.

9o Army:
Generalleutnant Karl-Jürgen Frhr von Lützow, head of XXXV the Armee-Korps, captured the 5 of July. Released in 1956.
Generalleutnant Walter Heyne, head of 6e Infanterie-Division (XXXV Armee-Korps) captured the 30 of June. Released in 1955.
Generalmajor Gustav Gihr, head of the 707 Infanterie-Division (XXXV Armee-Korps), captured the 27 of June. Released in 1955.
Generalmajor Joachim Engel, head of the 45 Infanterie-Division (XXXV Armee-Korps), captured at the beginning of July. Died in captivity in 1948.
Generalleutnant Edmund Hoffmeister, head of the Panzer-Korps, captured the 1 of July. Released in 1955.
Generalmajor Alexander Conrady, head of the 36 Infanterie-Division (Panzer-Korps), captured the 1 of July. Released in 1955.
Generalleutnant Adolf Hamman, garrison commander of Bobruisk, captured the 18 of June. Court and hanged person.


Of a total of 19 (without counting both executed) only one it died in captivity until 1955, when the majority of them was released.

I believe that these men were also captured then.

I wonder what the criteria was for the early release of a few of these officers. By far, the most were not released until 1955 but a few werer released in 1946 and 1948. Did these guys collaborate or was there some other factor involved in theri release/
