German Artillery Support for Infantry Offensives

What level of support was provided for infantry forces when making an attack? Numbers of guns, types, ammunition allowance, timing and types of fire? Particularly major offensives where Panzers were not involved or subordinate due to terrain.

I want to compare this this similar Soviet and British/US support to see the quanatative differences between them.
