Hi there,
may I know why you are so interessted about the Nachrichtenabteilung of the 253. ID? It looks like my Grandfather was the Comander of the Nachrichtenabteilung from November 1944 till May 1945. He wrote in his Memoirs that he came to the 253 ID as the Comander of the Nachrichtenabteilung during the Battle at the Dukla Pass. He wrote that from mid January 1945 they were involved in heavy withdrawal fights via Neumarkt-Zakopane-Schwarzwasser-Silein-Westbeskiden. At the time of the capitulation his unit was near Olmütz. Please share your information about that unit and that time with me.
Thanks,
Joscha
