Re: stalag IV B what heer officers were in command
Stalag (Kriegsgefangen Mannschafts-Stammlager) was
a) a regimental echelon, administrative unit raised to manage a POW camp for 10,000 Enlisted POW:
Prisoner-of-War Camp for Enlisted Men (Stalag)
KStN 7805 dated 01.09.1938
Hqs: (# 6–0–2–6); 3 bicycles; 1 car (light).
Labor Allocation Group: (# 1–0–2–2); 2 bicycles; 1 motorcycle.
Medical Group: (# 2–0–1–3); 1 bicycle.
Intelligence and Censorship Group:
Hqs: (# 1–0–0–0).
Intelligence: (# 1–1–3–3); 3 bicycles.
Postal Censorship: (# 3–0–4–25); 3 bicycles; 1 motorcycle.
Admin Group: (# 0–32–10–21); 1 bicycle; 3 wheeled tractors (medium); 6 multi-wheel trailers (open, 3-ton); 4 wagons (standard), 8 draught horses.
b) a permanent prisoner-of-war (POW) camp for enlisted men (both NCO’s and other ranks), administered by a) above.
The camps got very full. The OKW planning for Case Barbarossa in April 1941 already foresaw between 20,000 and 50,000 POW per Stalag. And the number of actual POW taken was well in excess of planning, particularly during the opening phases of the campaign.
Cheers

Re: stalag IV B what heer officers were in command
Sorry, forgot to explain. The figures in brackets indicate the number of men in the sub-units.
(# Officers — Beamte[1] — NCO — EM)
[1] Beamte were military officials.

Re: stalag IV B what heer officers were in command
Thanks for this Leo , its most helpful , i`m mainly trying to find out about the officers at one stalag but had no idea how many officers (or other men ) would there have been , so this will help me narrow it down .
the officer i`m trying to find out about is Ludwig Grimm , i think he was german army officer at stalag IVB at time of liberation 1945 but cant pinpoint him exactly .
i`m trying to build up a picture of the camp and this helps , thanks again ,
