Hello to all :D; a little more................

Wilhelmshaven - Winter 1939!

Torpedo being taken aboard by one U boat Type IXA by the forward hatch. As it can be seen the torpedo (in this Type) was loaded by the bow (warhead first) with an inclination of 35º. Date: 22 December 1939.

A small pole with a pennant and another in the periscope is also observed in the conning tower. Signal of maneuvering with explosives? (second picture).

Hello to all :D; a subject that piqued my interest ...........................

Maneuvers in trainable torpedo tubes (U boats).

Polish U boats had the same type of external rotating torpedo tubes as the French submarines and I'm curious about why develop such type of system, the effectiveness of it and does it cause some kind of imbalance in the boat?.

Well the Wilk class (Wilk, Rys and Zbik) were built in the shipyard Chantiers Augustine Normand in Le Havre. But the two Orzel class (Orzel and Sep) were built in the Netherlands.

Below some pictures of the system (in this case aboard the ORP Wilk) ........................
