Fritz Herzig photo rights

Post by midgardb »

I've seen some photos of Fritz Herzig (503rd Heavy Armor Battalion commander) online, but there doesn't seem to be info on who owns the rights. I'm looking to get permission to use a digital copy for a book I'm working on, but I'm not sure who to contact. Any ideas? Established sources such as the Bundesarchiv don't appear to have anything.

Thanks,

Dave

Both. In a way.

Specifically, it deals with the Tiger II and IS-2, and their fight around Arnswalde (2/45). Herzig's 503rd SS happened to be the Tiger II unit involved.

I got photo use rights for Boris Eremeev (CO for 11th Guards Heavy Tank Brigade)- now I need the same for a pic of Herzig.

I have seen some originals of that series of photos featuring Herzig which came with some of the estate of Karl Bromann but presumably quite a few of them were from photos shot by Kriegsberichter.

I own quite a few original award documents etc relating to Fritz Herzig but no original photos,
