Does anyone know if Hitler ever visited Breslau again formally after his (non-speaking) appearance at the Turn und Sportfest in July 1938?
I don't think he did, but I may be wrong.

He was - March 1st 1933 at the Jahrhunderthalle to be precise. And in 1936 for the opening of the Autobahn, and 1937 for the singers' festival, as well as the games in 1938. There are some very good images from the mid-30s in the Schlesienbuch by Friedrich Heiss (published just after the Anschluss). I can't find any other public engagement in Breslau after July 31 1938, however.

What i know he wasn't. There is no single info about his oficial visit in Breslau, what should be much more important during war thant his visits before 1933. However he could visit Breslau in secret, on his way to Ukraine.

That's what I think too - no official public engagements, but possibly a private/secret visit to a military or Party organisation. I just don't want to write it in my book and then look an idiot as soon as someone points out the mistake!

Re: Hitler in Breslau
It's about Festung Breslau, but it begins in the 1930s, hence the interest in Hitler's visits. Won't be out for three years I'm afraid, but I should have the prologue done at least this spring.

Hi, Richard, when you completed your blitzkrieg unleashed, why don't you go on Norway, Western campaign, then Britain, North Africa, Balkan and Russia ?

Hmmm, that sounds like the whole war to me...Kelvin wrote:Hi, Richard, when you completed your blitzkrieg unleashed, why don't you go on Norway, Western campaign, then Britain, North Africa, Balkan and Russia ?
I try to write about subjects that interest me and have a gap in the literature. Of the two, it's the former that takes priority. If I'm going to spend four years writing and researching, it's got to be a battle I 'enjoy'. Norway's coming (probably next), the Western Campaign too (for which I have so much material it's untrue), Caucasus, East Prussia and Pomerania. I've not ruled out North Africa either. And then there's WW1...

I am waiting for your work. But what kind of untrue data about Western campaign from ?
Re: Hitler in Breslau
I'm really glad that there be another book about east front 1944/1945.
After two years in Englad, i found that wwII at this period is almost unknown here , and most tv docu and movies is about normandy, bulge and market-garden.
Not many people has idea that only in winter 1944/1945 Red Army lost more soldiers on Polish soil than Western Allies all toghether during whole wwII in all fronts including Pacific.
And dambusters or SOE in Norway had minimal efect on German warmashine.

That wwII was total victory that brings freedom for europe, what is 100% not true.Kelvin wrote:I am waiting for your work. But what kind of untrue data about Western campaign from ?
I'm really less intrested about this or other battle, tactics or weapon. For me most important are: why it all happend and what happend after.
I suggest "Europe at War 1939-1945. No simple victory" by Norman Davies

Re: Hitler in Breslau
I can now say for certain that Hitler did visit Breslau after the Sportfest in 1938. He gave a speech at the Jahrhunderthalle in November 1943 to officer candidates.
