Forum back online... for now

Post by Jason Pipes »

The forum is back for now. Weird things may still happen at some point today, so be prepared for that just in case. In addition the main site is down and not working correctly and won't be back online until later this afternoon.

Please let me know if you notice anything strange, broken, or in error while the forum is back online today.

Looking good so far, seems a lot faster in opening threads. Even the big photoriddle thread opens in a flash now.

One minor issue: the letters with umlaut have been replaced by squares.

Other than that: excellent

Best regards,

Paul

Thanks for the heads up! We've gotten word of the umlaut issue and are working on it now. I believe it's related to how this version of the forum software works with PHP5 as I checked the database itself and the umlauts are indeed present. I am sure there will be other issues too and we will tackle them all this weekend.

As another heads up, we are planning to move the entire forum over to the new version this weekend too. First moved to the new server, then move the forum to the new software. Lots of moving going on!

Ahhhhh! Happy its not a just Mac OSX problem...

Checked it on Windows Vista and "Björn" comes out as BjOrn (the O being
more of a "Square" with rounded corners). And its not only Umlauts!
Very first post in Forum Heroes - Where the Iron Crosses Grow:

Otherwise everything seems to be in order AND FAST

   Double post because of this:

General Error

Could not insert new word

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 145 Table './fg_net/fg_phpbb_search_wordlist' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

INSERT IGNORE INTO fg_phpbb_search_wordlist (word_text, word_common) VALUES ('ahhhhh', 0), ('bjorn', 0), ('björn', 0), ('checked', 0), ('comes', 0), ('corners', 0), ('crosses', 0), ('everything', 0), ('fast', 0), ('first', 0), ('forum', 0), ('grow', 0), ('happy', 0), ('heroes', 0), ('iron', 0), ('mac', 0), ('order', 0), ('osx', 0), ('otherwise', 0), ('post', 0), ('problem', 0), ('quot', 0), ('rounded', 0), ('seems', 0), ('square', 0), ('umlauts', 0), ('vista', 0), ('waleed', 0), ('windows', 0)

Line : 234
File : functions_search.php

Maybe a bit too fast with the "All OK" there...

Hi Jason.

Loading seems a lot faster.

The pictures of the soldiers along the top are missing right now (lots of red X's).

Keep up the good work.
Cheers

I believe the issue with characters displaying incorrectly has been resolved. Now on to the other issues! @{
