SS-Kriegsberichter uniforms.

Can anybody tell me what uniforms a Kriesgberichter wore, particularly SS ones?

Did they have a special uniform or did they just wear a uniform identical to the unit that they were serving with, apart from the cuff title? Furthermore, did any women happen to serve with the KB's?

Any info or photos would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

The cufftitle was the only identifying insignia. In addition to the SS-Kriegsberichter cufftitle, the Waffen-SS also had a cufftitle for their propaganda unit: "Kurt Eggers", named in December 1943 in honour of the editor-in-chief of "Das Schwarze Korps".

The SS-Kriegsberichter cufftitle continued to be worn by many SS-KB and quite a few SS-KB wore the cufftitle with their divisional or regimental cufftitles, although this was strictly-speaking against the regulations.

As for the Luftwaffe, they also had a propaganda unit with its own "Kriegsberichter" cufftitle, as did the Heer and the KM. In addition, the Luftwaffe had a small sub-unit of para-trained LW-KB. I have some photos somewhere which I will dig out and scan when I have a moment. There were also para-trained SS-KB, the most notable being Adolf Kunzmann, attached to SS-Fallschirmjäger-Btl 500.

If you're doing an impression or a mannequin, you'll need a cufftitle plus a period camera of the types used and maybe even a portable typewriter. They also used pigeons to carry stop press dispatches. Other than that, they wore bog standard field kit. Ranks began at corporal.

Thank you very much for the advice.

I've been searching the net for info on the KB's but not much has been forthcoming. This info is needed for a forthcoming re-enactment impression and I wanted it to be as accurate as possible.

Again, thanks very much.
