That's nothing Locke! Acording to plans we Soviets captured in the Reichstag, the Nazis were going to remove the Parthenon from Greece and put it in Konigsberg. Hitler objected that the building was, in his words "a ruin", so the plan was scrubbed. Then the Nazis decided that, since England had an Obelisk from Egypt, they just had to have a pyramid of their own. So, Rommel and the Afrika Corps were dispatched to capture one!!!!

The greed of those Nazis barbarians was incredible!

Best Regards,

I knew there had to be something behind the African campaign! Imagine there would be a pyramid on the top of the Reichstag instead of the dome....crazy

As vell as the Eifel Tower, Parthenon and Pyramids, the art appreciating National Social Party had planned to move the Arc de Triumph, Collosus of Rhodes, Leaning Tower of Pizza and the Matterhorn!

All ot keep them out of the grasp of the invading eastern hordes of Ghengis Commissar and Attila the Fridolin! :x

Unfortunately, we were unable to rent a storage-locker quite large enough to fit them all in! :(

Even Herr Reichmarschal's clothes closet was just a little too small! :(

Taking into account that, according to Himmler,
'Archaeology is the science of Aryan supremacy in the beginnings of civilization'
(true) it is easy to see why Adolf did not think much of Himmler's efforts in digging ancient Germanic wooden huts in Pomerania, or in sending expeditions to measure funny crania in Tibet.
Having some talent in the field of 'les Belles Artes' (at least as much as Churchill) Hitler fully appreciated that maintaining that 'Germanic genius was already showing in these wooden huts' while the Greeks were building the Parthenon was something a little off the mark, not to say plainly ridiculous.
So it was Himmler, not Hitler, who thought of the Parthenon as 'ruins'. In fact, this is the very first occasion in which the faithful servant dared to voice a difference of opinion with his master Adolf.
But newly unclassified sources mention that the real reason behind Himmler's hate of the Parthenon lies in the fact that on the one ocassion in 1936 in which he mustered courage to visit an SS brothel a Greek whore laughed at his 'little ruin'.
