Winston Churchill quote

Post by Annelie »

One day President Roosevelt told me that he was asking publicly for suggestions about what the war should be called. I said at once 'The Unnecessary War'.
Sir Winston Churchill, Second World War (1948)
Not sure what to make of this. Could be construed in several ways.
Never once thought about decisions of what a war could be called!

Weeeeell - any doughboy shivering in the Snow outside valdivostock or british soldier at Archangel might for instance have wondered who buggered up the name "The War To End All Wars"....
