Lion of the Desert (1981)

Post by panzermahn »

Hello Feldgrauans

What do you all think of this movie? Just watched it last night on DVD. The uniforms of the Italian blackshirts militia and the regular Army (Alpini, Bersaglieri) were quite accurate and Oliver Reed did a very convincing job of portraying General Graziani..

But somehow, I think this movie was quite a good movie especially the war scenes..

Sadly, the director himself was killed in a suicide bombing in Jordan back in 2005

Hello Panzermahn:
I watched it some time ago and was impressed with it. Oliver Reed did a very good job, and I learned a few things about the Italians in N. Africa. Best wishes.

Is it true that the Italian government banned this movie until the late 1990s?
