Die Wewelsburg - Part 1-5

Re: Die Wewelsburg - Part 1-5
I visited the Wewelsburg in the summer of 2008 and found that it houses a local history museum that is well worth a visit. There is however nothing left that in any way reminds of Himmlers ambitions for the place apart from the round chamber that is shown in the youtubefragments posted by DrStrangelove. This room is closed to the public but through the gate one can have a look inside.
Any Feldgrauian that ever finds himself (or herself) in the neighbourhood of Paderborn should give it a visit though. The outside of the building is in perfect shape and it takes very little imagination to see the SS-guards standing at the gates.
The local history museum is very interesting as it describes the rich history of the region spanning some 4.500 years and presents that to the visitor with a host of objects ranging from weapons to furniture, maps, models, maquettes and so on. Also there is a small section dealing with the natural world before man ever appeared in the region.
The 1993-45 period is, of course, absent in the collection but apart from that the Burg offers an excellent day out!
Best regards,
Paul

Gruß an Paulus!
Paul, I have visited the Wewelsburg several times, in search of the "Black Sun", no entry there, forbidden, okay to me, as a german, so.
But it IS a very special place, makes you shiver, and curious at the same time...
