The 501. was assigned 45 Konig Tigers. However, 14 of them were faulty and remained in Ohrdruf, so that only 31 disembarked at the Koniecpol railway station on Aug 9. Now, if the information regarding TII problems on the road from Koniecpol to Chmielnik - problems with 11 machines, it would mean 20 took part in the battle. It woud confirm the numbers given earlier.
Now I have a question, where were coming from other than TII tanks which took part in the 11-13 august events? Were the 501 the only unit fighting this battle?

Regarding the German counterattack towards Staszcow, Aug 12 1944, first, are there any decent maps showing the battle area. I have a few from a Russian website, but it does not show this "bulge". Is there one? Had the attack been successful, how would this impacted the Russian? if at all?

The 16th Panzer units involved in this attack seem to the 79thPG (1 battalion) and 20 PzIV. But none of the research indicates where they attacked, only the 501 T with 11 PzVIB attacking from Ogledow or Poniki. any info about the 16th Pz in this battle?

What other units of both sides were close to this battle?
