Tonight I was looking through some LSSAH microfilm records from 1940 when I found this document that may be of interest to some of you. I wonder how many of these men survived the war?

Al - I have been conucting extensive post-war status checks on LSSAH officer vets. These include considerable work with the Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) in Berlin since 1984, the veterans themselves to include a former Stubaf. who became a senior manager in the Bundesnachrichtendienste and knew quite a bit about his comrades from the 1930s. Also a number of relatives such as the millionaire son of Ostuf. Helmut Mees of the I./LSSAH in 1935 and his controversial murder in 1956. These are typical of my research and contacts from all Waffen-SS divsions from most combat branches. The results of this research, which is continuously updated, can be found in Part 1 of my Führerliste der Waffen-SS publication that is available directly from me or from Helion & Company publishers in the UK.
