Welcome to the forum Ronny,

Given the passage of time it is increasingly unlikely that Herr Scheller is still among the living. What is certain is that he is not listed among the dead of WW2. Is there anything else other than his name and rank on the mask or can?

Kind Regards,
Simon.

Hello Ronny,

It's possible that the numbers on the mask/can may be either his personal roster number or perhaps a Feldpost number (Fpn). Typically Fpn are 5 digit numbers, sometimes with a letter afterwards. A soldiers personal number (Stammrollnummer) may be 3-4 digits long.

Kind Regards,
Simon.
