U-51 crewmen

Hope someone can straighten this out for me! The U-Boat net lists U-51 as sunk on 20 Aug 1940. Crew members which I have researched in the Volksbund list indicate 23 Aug 1943 as their death dates. Can anyone offer an explanation?

Richard,

Volksbund is a huge data base and they do make errors. I have found double enteries, wrong geburtsort, etc. It happens.

However I checked my crew list for U-51 and so far they match 20.08.1940.

Perhaps you have a different crew list.

Just a thought, some of the crew may have transfered to other subs?

Thank you Bruno. I thought perhaps the dates in the Volksbund were mistaken. I do not have the entire crew list - only 14 men. Would you be kind enough to send me the entire crew list?
