Number operational German submarines?...

Does anyone have a number for operational totals for submarines for German, Italian, Soviet, British, Japanese, and American submarines during WWII?
"What are they going to do, send me to Vietnam?"

Wiki has some info and the references should take you to better sources.
uboat.net has a lot of info on the German boats, I think it has some info on the Italilan ones as well.
