Operation Deadlight

Postby Me262 » Mon Aug 30, 2010 4:14 pm

Operation Deadlight is normally connected with the sinking of the U-boats which had surrendered to the allies after the war.

It is not very well known that OD contained some kind of "part two": finding the german subs which where still hiding in northern waters after the end of the war, refusing to surrender.

There is not much information to be found on this, and I know that many readers probably think I am either in error or are trying to place some kind of hoax.

I have two different sources of information, one of them is reliable, an old German who was commanding a sub.

So far my informations are: It took place in spring 1946, and there where three remaining german submarines. I know of only one british ship which seems to have been part of the action, destroyer HMS Hotspur.

I would appreciate if someone could come up with more facts.
