The only thing I can find about this unit is:
"Als Besonderheit stellte Korvettenkapitän Gysae im April 1945 das 1. Marinepanzerjagdregiment mit zwei Abteilungen unter Kapitänleutnant von Hartmann und KK Kriesel auf."

It says that the regiment was established with two battalions.

thanks Kroll yes just been looking at Gysae's write up as well on deutsche-marine soldaten a wonderful first person bio site with many extras.

Is there a decent web-site with Vetter's photo ? I do know the guy was a young one at 21 when he received his RK. and not to get off topic bu did he receive the RK for driving the Linse into some Allied ship or ? It appears his awards were in successive order very quickly by the write up from the German site.

I read a lot of speculations. Here are the historical facts recorded by the War Diary of the German Supreme Naval Command (KTB Skl) and supplemented by printed personal reports of German naval personnel of Crew 44:
Marine-Panzer-Jagd-Regiment 1 (Gysae) was erected north of Berlin in the area of HG Weichsel during the last decade of April 1945. The formation of this unit was proposed by Admiral Dönitz during one of the Führer conferences and personally ordered by Hitler. Most of the navy men were young officer cadets, their troop and group leaders usually were young Fähnriche, many of the company commanders were lieutenants and captains from the army. They were to fight in small troops under the command of 3rd Panzer Army. Their duty was to destroy soviet armor using Panzerfausts and explosive charges. Due to the combat unexperience of the navy-men, their tactical and operational effectiveness was minimal, and lots of the young cadets lost their lifes or became russian POWs.
