Which U-boats were in Wilhelmshaven in May '45

Post by lach »

Hi guys...I recently received a Junghans clock that was given to a veteran in May '45. It was given to him from a U-boat officer who had just surrendered his U-boat to the Allies in Wilhelmshaven (it was a trade for a pack of smokes).

I'm trying to find out what U-boats surrendered in Wilhelmshaven. In fact, from what I've learned 91 boats surrendered to the Allies (rather than scuttle) and of that lot ONLY 8 went into German ports.

Does anyone know which U-Boats surrendered in Wilhelmshaven? You would be helping me out A LOT! Thanks for any and all info you can send my way!
I'd love to find out which U-Boat the clock came from.

Thanks! Cheers!

Rob

If you go to Uboat.Net you will find anything you want about Uboats...including photos of the Kapitan's of them, how much tonnage they sunk, dates and position they were sunk, etc.
You're sure to find answer there.

Hello Rob,

as far as I know those were:
U 143, U 145, U 149, U 150, U 155, U 291, U 806, U 883, U 1194, U 1230, U 1233

Please remember that Wilhelmshaven was taken on 6.VI.1945 by 1st Polish Armoured Division.

Hope it helps!

Cheers
