I am trying to trace details of my fathers life.
I was told he was a German submariner and the only photo I have shows him in a Kriegsmarine uniform.
All I have ever been told is that in the early years of the war he was captured and sent to a British POW camp in LIncolnshire, UK.
His name was, Herbert Alfred Alexander Corssen, born in OSchatz, Germany, 29/09/1924.
I am desperately trying to find any information as I know nothing about my father.
regards izi.

Hello addenbrool.
I searched with the surname on the Ubootwaffe site, which can be found here: http://www.ubootwaffe.net/crews/crews.cgi
Unfortunately that didn't lead to any additional information. The site is a work in progress though and you might want to contact Hubertus Weggelaar on that site if there is information that hasn't been added to the database yet. There is also a "reseach" tab on the top menu of that site that has additional sources.
Another good source is the Deutsches U-Boot Museum-Archiv in Cuxhaven-Altenbruch, Germany. Information about the archive and how to contact it can be found here: http://www.uboat.net/special/archiv/index.html
They have extensive information on the boats and crews and offer their services to researchers and relatives of the crews.
Hope this will give you a starting point. Good luck with your research!
