Stahlhelm

Post by Mark C Yerger »

Can anyone recommd a book, English or German, with data on the areas and names of positions/posts/ranks/areas of the Stahlhelm ? Looking for the period just before absorbed by the SA.

Found one!

"Der Stalhelm, bund der Frontsoldaten, 1918-1935", by Volker Berghahn, 1966.

Looks to be your best single source. Might be harder to find used though, but I imagine the inter-library loan system in the US would have it someplace.

Also, "The SA Generals and the Rise of Nazism", by Bruce Campbell has quite a lot of info on the Stalhelm in his various notes.

Hi Mark,

the book by Berghahn is a very useful source for the history of the Stahlhelm, but does not contain the names/positions etc you're looking for.

Maybe you can try to obtain one of the following sources (have not seen any of them myself yet):

Volker Berghahn
Das Ende des Stahlhelm
IN: Vierteljahrhefte für Zeitgeschichte 1965, P. 446-451

Alois Klotzbücher
Der politische Weg des Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten, in der Weimarer Republik.
Erlangen-Nürnberg 1965

Theodor Gruss
Stahlhelm Bildband
Berlin 1934

Best regards
