German code names for Austrian Nazi coup, 25 July 1934?

Post by sid guttridge »

In an English language book I have seen the code name "Operation Summer Festival" used for the SS coup in Vienna and "Operation Price Shooting" used for the largely SA coup in the provinces.

Can an Austrian contributor give me the original German-language code names?

I don't want a translation of "Operation Summer Festival" and "Operation Price Shooting" back into German, because this might give a false result. I need the original German.

Many thanks,

Sid.

Hi Das Reich,

Anschluss is the general term for union and is much broader than what I was after.

In English texts "The Anschluss" usually refers to the Union of Austria and Germany in 1938, for which the military code name was "Otto".

The joining of the Sudetenland and Memel to Germany were also "anschlusses" but are not usually referred to as such in English texts.

However, Anschluss was not a code name in any of these cases.

Thanks for dredging my old post up from the depths, as it remains without a definitive answer.

Cheers,

Sid.
