Best book on Africa and Normandy?

Post by krichter33 »

I was wondering if anyone knew of the best book that covers the entire campaign in Africa, as well as one on Normandy? I don't really like general overviews, I prefer extremely tactical and operational books with numerous detailed maps. Books like those by Glantz, Jason Mark, NIpe, Stahel, Hinze, Tieke, ext... I also like books that show both sides. Most of my reading has been on the Eastern front, and only occasionally on the west, so any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I think Jean-Paul Pallud's Desert war Then & Now is excellent: http://www.rzm.com/books/atb/atbbk051.cfm (some sample pages provided). Then there is the two-volume Afrika Korps at War set by George Forty.

I was thinking about the Then and Now series since I have heard so much about them. I'll check out the sample pages. Thanks!
