Oh!

There was no link.

I was reading the first volume of the DAS REICH by Otto Weidinger and read the following sentance:

Nach jeder Rueckkehr nach Wolterdingen von Einsaetzen, Aufmarschaen, und Tr.Ueb. Plaetzen machet sich der sog. "Heidekoller" immer wieder bemerkbar...

I get everything except the Heiekoller.

Sorry for the confusion.

regards,

Helmut

Koller means rage. Heide refers to the Heide Landscape (heath) in which Wolterdingen is located. It is in northern Germany close to Munster, the home of todays armoured training center and the famous Panzer-Museum. The whole area is called "Lüneburger Heide", Lüneburg being the largest city around. Because of the remoteness of the garrison, there was no distraction for the soldiers from the hardships of army life off duty. This led to the "Heidekoller=heath rage", i.e. soldiers doing "strange" things, that even were not appropiate for SS-men....
