why so long what was the reason

Post by charlieboy »

hi everyone
Lt johannes-matthias honscheid born 14-7-1922 died 2-3-2001
was the only kreigberichter to win the ritterkreuz in ww2 awarded on 12-03-1945 the same day
as he was awarded the german cross in gold
his citation for the ritterkreuze was for an action in july 1943 in sicily, as a member of 3rd battalion fallschirm jager regiment 4
it was only when he joined the heer on 14-9-1944 that his ritterkreuz award progressed
do any members know the reason for the long delay???.
this brave man had a total of 12 major awards given to him during the course of the war ''he was only 17 when he won the iron cross 2nd class'' and he served from the start of the war to the finish
best wishes

hi every one just been looking at his picture on http://ritterkreuztrager-1939-45. and reading the short biography
it looks like he has also been awarded two panzervernichtungsabzeichen these do not seem to be on his list of awards
on that site. any one confirm he was awarded these. also there are a lot of dates missing for a lot of his awards.???
best wishes
