Irnfried von Wechmar.
Born on February 12 of 1899 and died on November 27 of 1959; he was a German Officer and a journalist. At the beginning of WW I in 1914, he entered as an teenage Cadet-Officer in the Garde-Fußartillerie-Regiment (Guards Artillery regiment on foot) after his promotion to Lieutenant (Leutnant) acted as an artillery officer throughout this fight, being decorated with the Iron Crosses of Iº and IIº Class (Eisernen Kreuz I. und II. Klasse).
After the war he served as volunteer in the Free Corps and continued in the Reichswehr. In 1922 he resigned and became a journalist in Berlin.
After the ascent to the power of the Nazi Party, v. Wechmar rejoined to the Army as Captain (Hauptmann) and was assigned as Commander of the Aufkl. Abt. 3 (Reconnaissance detachment 3) of the 3 Pz. With that unit he took part in the Campaigns of Poland (September of 1939) and France (May-June 1940).
