Commanders of Nachrichtenabteilung 7

Post by Gebirgsjaeger »

Hi,

can you help me with the names of the various commanders of Nachrichtenabteilung 7 (7. Infanteriedivision)?

I´ve had a patient last week who´s name starts with B. (don´t want to mention the whole name here). He told me he was Hauptmann and for some time the commander of Nachrichtenabteilung 7.

Any help/info would be very much appreciated!

LG

No, his name is not amongst them. Well I don´t know if it would be all right to mention his name here. What´s your opinion?

I guess u shouldn’t do that. It would be better to respect the rights of this person. However, it’s rather difficult to find any information about someone without knowing his name. By the way do u happen to know the years when he served?(I mean the precise date if possible)

He told me that he started his service in early 1939 by volunteering and rose from ordinary soldier to his last rank of Hauptmann der Reserve in 1945. He said that he was a member of Nachrichtenabteilung 7 for the whole time he was a soldier and that for some duration he even commanded the Abteilung.

The name that I posted before: Hptm. Binnewies, is the only commander of Nachrichtenabteilung 7 (as listed in Formationsgeschichte u. Stellenbesetzung der deutschen Streitkräfte, 1815 - 1990, Teile IV, Abt. 1: Die Dienststellen, Kommandobehörden u. Truppenteile des Heeres, 15.Oct.35 - 8.May.45, Band 1 u. 2, Nr. 1 – 30, by G.Wegmann/C.Zweng, Biblio Verlag, Osnabrück, 1998 & 2000) who's name begins with B.

Your man may have commanded the unit on a temporary or unofficial basis and his name may not have made it into the records of the unit.
