Could anyone give me more information about naval career and decorations of Oberleutnant zur See Ernest Mangold born in 15-11-1917 Bodenwerder, Hamelin and Entry in KM X/1935, served on U553 II WO and commanded the U739.
I am interested in any kind of information about german Uboat commander officiers.

Isn't his name Ernst, I would be surprised if a german was named Ernest.

4 March 1944 at 0425hours on British Destroyer Swift with accoustic homing torpedo[Gnat] in area AA4359 with no hit

2April 1944 at 1848hours on British destroyer Ashanti with accoustic homing torpedo[Gnat] in area AC4452 with no hit

24September 1944 at 0901hours on Soviet Mine Sweeper TSC-120 Assail[625tons] with accoustic homing torpedo[Gnat] in area AS2723 with hits and sinking at 76.3N/84.5E
