Johannes Kummel

I'm looking for a bit of accurate, reliable information on Johannes Kummel -- specifically for anything to do with his involvement with schwere Panzer Abteilung 505. I believe he was the initial abteilung kommandeur while the unit was being created...that is the extent of what I know.
Any info would be great -- and maybe a photograph or two -- especially if it is from that time period.

Dale, been away from the forum for awhile and just noticed you post. Unfortunately, I am away from my info and pictures at this time, but to the best of my knowledge Kummel never served with any heavy units during his time. He started with PzrRgt 8 (39-43) and ended in Italy with, I believe PzRgt 26 in 1944 when he was killed. I have nothing to indicate he was ever with the heavys.

Hey Kevin -
thanks for the reply -- What I had read was that he was in that position (maybe it was just on paper when he was between other postings..) only for a brief period while 505 was being put together in Belgium.
Maybe it was just a case of his name being put forward as a potential commander -- maybe the info. I had read was totally off.
I will have to look to see where I saw his name...
If you come across anything else -- please post it !!

Dale, can do, but what I forgot to ask you is the date of all this, maybe that will help me as he left Africa in late summer 42 and was posted back to Stuttgart area to PzrErz7.

10/10/43 = m.F.b. Pz.Rgt. 26
