Feldpost Help please

Post by Angus »

Hello,

I am looking for any information that can be gleened from the following inscription found inside the back of a Helmet
brought home from the war by a relative: " Hptfw.Kampe 05594 .B. (the numbers are actualy directly under the words.)

I am very interested in learning about the soldier who owned this Helmet and where he was in the war.
I realize that it is more than likely a longshot however I feel that after looking online that here is where the answer may be.
I thank you in advance.

My guess would be the helmet belonged to Hauptfeldwebel Kampe. As to which unit, it's hard to call.

That Feldpostnummer was assigned by rotation to the units listed. He could have belonged to any one of them.
