Schwere Artillerie Abteilung 864

Postby David W » Thu Jun 21, 2012 1:59 am

This unit appears to have been used to form I Abteilung 155th Artillerie Regiment, and yet it was armed with 10.5cm leFH18. I would have thought that the "Schwere" presix would have intimated 15cm.
Unless of course it was only the personnel that formed I Abteilung 155th Artillerie Regiment.
Your thoughts gentlemen please.
Thanks. Dave.

Dave, Lexikon der Wehrmacht only has the "schwere" being formed ion 13th May 1941 before becoming I./AR 155 on 5th June 1941, it would appear to me to have been just the personnel who were used to form the new unit even if they ever had the heavy guns and tows issued to them i that short time.
