Hube's 1st Panzer Army

Post by Commissar D, the Evil »

Does anyone have an idea of how much armor 1st Panzer Army was able to bring out of the pocket in 1944?

Best Regards,
DCC

Not so much:

1.PzD (17.4.44) – 2 Marders
6.PzD (11.4.44) – 3 Wespe
7.PzD (21.4.44) –1 BefPz, 7 PzIV, 1 T-34, 7 Wespe, 2 Hummel
16.PzD (21.4.44) – operational: 1 BefPzIII, 8 PzIV, 1 BefPzV, 4 PzV, 1 StuG, 1 Wespe, 1 Hummel
17.PzD – n/a
19.PzD (1.5.44) –1 PzIII, 4 Wespe/Hummel
25.PzD – no armor at all

A huge quantity of materiel was left behind. For instance the 61st Guards Tank Brigade, which some 9 months later would shot to pieces an entire King Tiger Abteilung, captured 72 Panzers (including 49 Tigers) in Kamenets Podolsk.

Excellent Work Kamen! I've never seen this quantified so well before. But I wonder if there were any Army Corps armor assets (s.Pz. Abt., s.Pz.Jg. Abt., etc.) that may have made it through?

David

In relation to the breakout -
In the Armee-Tagesbefehl dated 9 April 1944 (Easter Sunday) Hube writes:

Es wurden erbeutet, oder venichtet: nach bisherigen Zahlungen 358 Panzer, 190 Geschutze, 29 Sturmgeschutze, 4 Sfl, 2Spw, 57 Panzerbuschen, 174 MG, und zahlreichen Handfeuerwaffen.
