Yes, friction to some degree (but I strongly doubt if a nearly 50 kg heavy 12,8 cm cartridge could be held like this), but one has to remember that breeches of German heavy AA guns closed automatically after loading a cartridge, so there was practically no need for retaining the cartridge with any o...

I'm beginning to think that both the T26, the M13/40, and perhaps the Polish 7TP from the earlier thread as well, were all derived in some way from the Vickers Mk E. Sure they did, 7TP was basically the Vickers E with an enlarged engine compartment for a Diesel engine (and a new turret in the singl...

Re: Pzfaust vs Pzschreck

Also, I seem to recall that the same rocket was used in the 88mm "Püppchen" anti-tank rocket launcher. Sadly, you are wrong. The Pueppchen fired the RPzGr 4312 while the Panzerschreck - RPzBGr 4322 (or later the 4992). The rockets were completely incompatible - the 4312 was percussion ign...

The first guided anti-tank missile ever built was the X-4's younger brother, the X-7 Rotkaeppchen. Approximately 300 of these 90 cm long, wire-guided, solid-fuelled projectiles were built, some 100 were tested in March 1945, and it's also said some could see combat use.

Kind regards
