michael kenny, I disagree with much of Taylor reconstruction of the Battle of Villiers-Bocage, I do agree with the opening moves until Michael gets to the center of town. Also Taylor is depending for to much on vet’s stories near 40-50 years after the evens. To give an example of why you can't depen...

Michael, What picture and in what book? You do know that in May 1944 the 101st was visited by the press and then again un early June, and then again after the battle Villers-Bocage and many of the photos in Agte books are those photos. Most of the photos showing the tanks of the 2nd company on the r...

Michael, Check page 62 of Villers-Boage See the 112? A blow up of that photograph is on page 60-61 clearly shows 112, the caption on page 62 says it maybe 132. But Agte has a photo of it from behind and is 112 of the 1st company which attacked later in the day long after Michael came into town. Ther...

Hi
Michael's total of 138-144 kills were all as a tank commander. There are a good number of books on him today and unit histories of LAH. 101st Panzer Battalion etc. Also about tank fighting, its very hard to tell what tank kills what tank in combat, many actions with many of the tank aces listed here...

Hi
I post this on the other tank aces topic on this forum a few years back about Otto. Otto Carius kill total is not near the total posted here, with a little reseach his numbers want hold up to 150+ Kurt Knispel was a gunner and doesn't get credit for those kills which moves his kill total way down. A...

Hi
I know of no fiction in Agte's Micheal Wittmann and the Tiger Commanders of the Leibstanarte Adolf Hitler. Unlike Kurowski's works and Tigers in the Mud; I haven't found any fiction in this work. Like many posted here the pictures alone make this a most have book on LAH and Wittmann. I have both the...

Hi
Otto Carius' kill total is no were near 150, his total is around 122, his Knights Cross documents confirm the 122 total by award date and newspaper articles at the time. Also kills as a gunner don't count as a tank commander, so number one Kurt Knispel on the list is dropped down a number of spots; ...

1. Tank Commander; the gunner got credit for the kill as a gunner. 2. Everyone in a tank that spots a target would speak up, but in most cases it was the tank commander who spotted and directed the fire. Sometimes the diver may have spotted a target first, sometimes the gunner, but on avg. the tank ...
