Lage Ost on Microfilm?

Does anyone know if the Lage Ost situation maps can also be found on microfilm at NARA? If so, what would be the number of the microfilm publication?

Many thanks in advance!

Jan-Hendrick,

A question on Meier-Welcker's book: Can there be found accurate information on the fighting in the Goldap-Gumbinnen region in October 1944?

A fairly good account on this battle can be found in the book "Forgotten Battles of the Soviet-German War 1941-1945 - Vol 3. The Summer Campaign (12 May - 18 November 1942 )" by David Glantz.

Dear Bob, I know that map, but I'm unable to localize Marino on it, just like Agafidovo which should be south of Skirmanovo. According to that map the next village to the east of Skirmanovo is Mamoshino. Marino must be between Mamoshino and Skirmanovo. Anyway, I can only tell you that according to S...

On August 19, 1942 at 9 AM the divisional staff and the Krad Bn 10 were alerted to move toward Dieppe where the Krad Bn 10 got the order to clear Quiberville. The rest of the division was set in motion at 1 PM, but since their participation was no longer needed, they were stopped 30 km before Dieppe...

Bob,

there's no contradiction between Schick's and Katukov's account: Marino is a small settlement just a few 100 meters east of Skirmanovo, probably not more than a dozen houses. Katukov's tanks attacked first Marino and then moved on to Skirmanovo.

According to Schick’s history of the 10th Panzer Division the situation on November 11, 1941 was as follows: The villages Skirmanovo and Marino were held by the Rifle Rgt 86 and the II./Pz.Rgt. 7, supported by a „Flak-Kampftrupp“, by the „schwere Wurfgerät“ of the 3./Pi. 49, the „s.I.G.-Komp. 706 an...

Russian Defense of Kharkov

I only would like to mention that the city of Kharkov was defended by the the 19th Rifle Division (Col. Gogolitsyn), the 17th NKVD Rifle Brigade (Col. Novichikhin) and by the 86th and 179th Tank Brigades. Together with the 62nd Guards Rifle Division (MG Zaytsev) and the 303rd Rifle Division (Col. Fe...

Yes, these books are essentially the same. "Die Stabilisierung im Süden der Ostfront nach der Katastrophe von Stalingrad und dem Rückzug aus dem Kaukasus" is the title of Schwarz's dissertation which was later published as "Die Stabilisierung der Ostfront nach Stalingrad - Mansteins G...
Does the book break down the tank strength by type?
Unfortunately, there's no info on that in Neumann's book.

According to Neumann's history of the 4th Pz div, on 6th October the "Vorausabteilung Eberbach" consisted of: Stab 5.Pz.Brigade I./Pz.35 5./Pz.35 K.34 3./Pz.A.A.7 1./Flak 11 (8,8) A.R.103 (without I.) 4./A.R.69 I./Nb.W.53 1./Pi.79 Can't give you the operational tank strength of 6th October...

Hi Bob, seems that you know the history of the 60th I.D. (mot.) quite well. Perhaps you are able to tell whether it was inside or outside the pocket of XIV Panzer Corps (24 - 30 August, 1942)? I'm reading Dieckhoff's history of the 3rd I.D. (mot.) which is not quite clear about that. Thanks in advan...
