Intersting, I always thought Charlemagne was ruler of the Franks? As of Charles the Bald, I'm not really sure if he was Holy Roman Emperor, but that stuff about the Normans I've heard before. Normandy is in France mind you, and the Holy Roman Empire was in Germany. Correct me if I'm wrong

From what I've heard, John C. Garand spent his entire life from the end of the first world war to the forties designing the M1 Garand. Perhaps that's why it was such a superb weapon, and also why the only the Germans could produce something as close. The British Sten Gun I'd have to say wasn't reall...

The First Reich was the Holy Roman Empire. One of the most famous Germans was the Holy Roman Emperor, Frederick Barbarossa who unified Germany, conquered northern Italy, then died crossing a river. Hitler considered the Holy Roman Empire the First Reich, as it was the first real unified German state...

I'd had to go with the above statement. Britain and most of the Allies had been at the Geneva Convention where they all, including Germany, vowed not to ever use chemical warfare again. Besides, if Britain used gas as a weapon during a invasion of the British Isles, wouldn't it hurt a substantal Bri...

Eisenhower had a chance to cross the Rhine before 1945. Operation Market Garden. I don't wanna explain all the details, but the Allies were planning a crossing of the Rhine in early September 1944, and it nearly succeded, if it wern't for Bernard Montgomery being a jackass. That's how Eisenhower los...

Stalin and Hitler were friends before 1941. Hence the German-Soviet training camps in which German troops could train themselves without having to deal with the details of the Varsilles Treaty. Hitler, in 1939 when he signed the Non-Agression Pact with Stalin even gave him parts of Poland. Now, when...

Ummm... Diepe was a raid intended to destroy a selected target, then have the troops withdraw afterwards. It wasn't a full scale invasion of France. If Invasion Normandy failed, I'm sure Stalin would be pissed. He wanted the Allies to open a second front on Germany since 1941, and seeing how they fa...

The people of Russia would be more afraid of a buncha Nazis who thought of them as inferior, and wanted to exterminate them as part of the Nazi plan for the master race. At least with the Communists, the people of Russia were allowed to live. I don't think you need to force someone at gunpoint to fi...

Here's an interesting scenario just off the top of my head. Let's say that Montgomery isn't as incompetent was he was and actually did not to h alf-assed planning for Market Garden. Firstly, assigning his paratroopers with more Anti-Tank weapons, and landing the British 1st Airborne closer to the Ar...

Hmmm... I'd still have to disagree about an invasion of England. Lemme show you some statistics about the Normandy Invasion. Operation Overlord - Previous Amphibious Landing Experience (Diepe, Operation Torch, Anzio, Salerno.) - The Right Equipment (DUKWs, DD-Sherman, Churchill AVRE) - Air Superiori...

Even if the Germans did manage to establish a beachead in England, it'd be a Normandy-style battle for months on end, with the Germans encountering resistance throughout the British Isles. It would've taken quite some time just to conquer southern England. Then there would still be the not-so-panzer...
