Geb.Jg.Rgt. 139???

I have made contact with a volunteer platoon commander veteran on the Norwegian side who participated in the battles around Narvik (Grasvatnet, Raudvatnet, Naeverfjell, Kuberget and Holmvattnet) between 11 of May and 9th of June 1940. I would be very interested to find out anything concerning their ...

Looking for pictures of the following SS personalities...

Hi I am preparing a visit to northern France which incorporates battlefield studies covering operation PERCH, EPSOM, MARTLET, WINDSOR, CHARNWOOD and JUPITER. Concerning the German side I'm looking for period (preferably battlefield)photos of SS-Stubaf Scappini (CO II./SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt.25), SS-Ostubaf ...

In order to save some research work for me, could someone name each and every commander for the Deutsches Afrikakorps from it's formation in Feb -41 until it was finally disbanded in May -43.

Patrick, I'm aware of Jason's problems but I'm afraid this issue is much older than his computer breakdown. Maybe I'm overreacting but other than in the "Soldatenheim" section I find it a bit tedious constantly getting exposed to an ever increasing mediocre cocktail of all sorts of unprofe...

Timo & Christoph,

Don't respond to this post.
I've moved my post to the "Comments and Suggestions" section for a public discussion on the general state of the Feldgrau forums.
Please give me your opinions there!

What has happened to this forum?

I haven't posted, nor have I visited the Feldgrau Forums for a while but having now been ploughing through some forum sections and reading some threads I get a very disturbing feeling. What has happened to this forum? I get the feeling that the quality is going down in certain aspects. It seems that...

Shadow, Nice to see some progress on the "ultimate" Tank Ace List. I thougt the subject was since long forgotten. I am looking forward to an easily accessible data base when the list is "complete". I can see a lot of effort being put into the work, I will contribute if I see that...

Charlie! I have one of the better books about the FG42: "Death from above -The German FG42 Paratroop Rifle" by Dugelby & Stevens (Collector Grade Publications, 147 pages). Though there is a lot of information on the different versions, trial versions, sights and mountings, nothing is m...

Chris, The only version of the P 08 with a "short" barrel (very short, about an inch or so!) is the custom made "Baby lugers" made by John Martz (California) in the 70:ies. They are, as stated, custom made aftermarket barrels and not factory issue ones. There is a picture of one ...

Macke, After World War I, Germany was totally disarmed (as you may know). In the beginning of the 30:ies Germany re-armed. This had to be done in secrecy (mostly because of the Versailles treaty but also to maintain security for the factories and plants). Manufacturers and sub-contractors were assig...

behblc, Neither was I until I recently came across some information about 6X30 "Dienstglas" binoculars and Kriegsmarine bic's (no info on the specific type) apparantly made by Steiner during the war. I haven't been able to find ANY info on Steiner wartime optics so it maybe a false rumour....
