Re: 352 Inf Div Normandy

Dan, The Kriegsgliederung for 352 ID for May doesn't suggest that it had any captured weaponry. 716 and 709 IDs had plenty of captured weapons, most of them classified as static weapons. The 1.5.44 Kriegsgliederung for 716 ID includes the following Bodenstandig weapons: 23 x MG 116(f) 22 x MG 311(f)...

Horses in Infantry Divisions

I have the schematic Kriegsgliederung reports dated 1.5.44 for the following infantry divisions: 352, 716, 709 and 243 but those reports don't show the number of horses on strength. Does anybody have that information for these 4 divisions?

Thanks,

Neil

Thanks Tom. He's one of 3 researchers that has replied to my query and seems to be a good guy.

Re: Looking for Kriegsgliederung

Okay, I found this list of researchers in Freiburg: http://www.bundesarchiv.de/imperia/md/content/abteilungen/abtma/liste_recherchedienste__mai-2011_.pdf I have emailed all of them to see if they are interested. Has anybody here commissioned any research with any of these people and if so, were you ...

Re: Looking for Kriegsgliederung

Thanks for the link to the Wiki site. Unfortunately the link in the Wiki page in the Research procedures section doesn't work. I will try to find a research contact myself.

Thanks,

Neil

Re: Looking for Kriegsgliederung

I hadn't considered that. Do you know how to contact one of these researchers? I live in the UK so going to Freiburg isn't a cheap alternative.

Thanks,

Re: Looking for Kriegsgliederung

Yes I have looked at the Sturmpanzer site but the Kriegsgliederung there don't cover the units I'm interested in. I'm hoping there are others who are interested in 7th Army and 15th Army in the months leading up to D-Day so that we could share NARA costs as I cannot afford $135 per digitised roll of...

Re: Looking for Kriegsgliederung

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I'm looking for the actual organisation and weapons holdings which are found on divisional Kriegsgliederung reports. So for example from the 352nd Infantry Division Kriegsgliederung dated 1.5.44 I can see the distribution of weapons (LMG and heavier) on the organisation charts...

Re: Looking for Kriegsgliederung

Lorenz,

I've been through that topic and it doesn't contain any TO&E details that I'm not aware of (I have a copy of Zetterling's book 'Normandy 1944').

Thanks,

Neil

Re: Looking for Kriegsgliederung

Mad Dog,

I signed up to NARA but at $135 per digitised roll of microfilm its extremely expensive. If there are others out there who are also interested in the same rolls then perhaps we could share the cost?

Lorenz,

I will look through that topic

Thanks,

Neil

Re: Looking for Kriegsgliederung

I have Kriegsgliederung for a lot of 7th Army units but none for units in the 15th Army, hence my original post. Here's a list of divisions that I have documents on: 2 Panzer 3 Fallschirmjager 5 Fallschirmjager 6 Fallschirmjager 16 Luftwaffe Field 21 Panzer 77 Infantry 116 Panzer 155 Reserve Panzer ...

Looking for Kriegsgliederung

I'm working on a Normandy 1944 project and am looking for Kriegsgliederung reports for divisions/units that fought in Normandy. In particular I'm looking for Kriegsgliederung for the following infantry divisions for April or May 1944 or, in the case of units sent to Normandy later; July or August 19...
