Yannis Prekatsounakis author of Battle for Heraklion, Crete 1941

If anyone knows how to get in touch with Yannis Prekatsounakis, the author of the excellent "Battle for Heraklion, Crete 1941", please let me know.

I am traveling to Crete with a decent size group next year and would like to meet him. I understand he lives in the Haraklion area.

Re: New Kursk book! "Objective Ponyri!"

Jason published "Objective Ponyri," but Marty Nevshemal is the author. Jason deserves accolades for recognizing the value in the work, but Marty deserves the credit for authorship.

New Kursk Book on Ponyri

My dear friend, Marty Nevshemal, has written a new book on the vicious struggle for Ponyri Train Station in the northern shoulder of the Kursk battlefield. I visited Ponyri with Marty a couple of years ago. While there, Marty showed me some of the source material that he had gathered. Some of the ae...

Re: Sven Hassel is dead

If you remember reading Hassel as a schoolboy, then you must read "Achtung Schweinehund!: A Boy's Own Story of Imaginary Combat" by Harry Pearson. The author's autobiographical account of growing up in Britain during the 70s and early 80s is a hoot. He writes at length about the influences...

Re: Theodor Plievier

I always thought the ending of Plievier's book on Stalingrad was fascinating . . . the Germans all holed up in and about Red Square, basically knowing it was over, and allowing the Soviets to come in and accept Paulus' surrender. I don't know if that is the way it actually went down, but it made riv...

Re: Images of War

I have a number of them that I have picked up used on Amazon over the years and they vary greatly from good to poor. None that I have seen are outstanding. First and foremost, understand what you are getting. There are plenty of great photo books out there, but you pay for what you get. The Images o...

Any idea if the book will be published prior to the 70th anniversary of the battle in July 2013?

I spoke to The publisher about Volume 3. They say they are still waiting on the author to complete it.

Publisher says there are no current plans to republish the book.

Does anyone know what happened to the anticipated Volume 3?

Operation "Citadel", Photo Album, Volume 1: The South

I have been attempting to locate a used volume of the photo history "Operation Citadel: Volume 1: The South" by J. Restayn and N. Moller. The only used copies I can find are $400. If anyone has this book and is willing to part with it for less than $400, please send me a private message. T...

Re: Explosive New Book about Kursk Coming out in May

Does anyone know how to contact the author, Valeriy Zamulin? I know he was the former Director of Research at the Prokhorovka Battlefield Park Museum. However, according to the museum, he left that position in 2009.

Re: New Jason Mark book!

Gentlemen - I was very fortunate to receive an advance copy of Jason Mark's latest book, Besieged. I am happy to report that it has been written to Jason's usual standards of thoroughness and detail. The book is loaded with photographs and maps that are being published for the very first time. I hav...
