Any idea of 1939 Polish location
http://www.flickr.com/photos/76069915@N06/7788572750/ Hi would anyone recognise the location of this house. The photo came from a 9./IR41 album. A few photos before this there is a grave photo of a man who died on the 5th Sept in Mnichow. So this picture would be from perhaps the 6th onwards. The ph...

Re: Translation help
I assume you are looking for a translation of the term :?: If so, maybe you could give more of the context perhaps the full sentence that it comes from as the context may determine how best to translate it. Its too vague and there is probably half a dozen ways of translating it. It could be "au...

Re: Help with a translation
Babelfish is a hard act to follow :D but here is my effort Through adequate preparation of the gun positions and observation systems a quick turnaround should be guaranteed in consideration of the artillery groups. So I think it's saying that if one group sets up the gun positions and observations p...

Re: What surname?
Knoch,
I'm sure you probably know this already.
Pz.Art.Rgt. 92 unter Oberst Knoch wurde am 28. Dezember 1943 der 5. Jäger-Division unterstellt.

Re: What surname?
Hi Postofficeworker,
I don't think it is Knoch for the surname. The "K" for the first name (Kurt) and the "K" later on for Kradsch. look similar but bear no similarity to the first letter of the surname as far as I can see.

Re: 14 Panzer Division, November 1944
hi
In the book "Die 14.Panzer Division 1940-1945 by Rolf Grams" he has Munzel as commander from 6th Sept to 30th Nov 1944. Major Grams was Kommandeur of Pz.A.A.40

Re: u!nknown photo
Sebastian I don't think it's Rishts. I'm not sure if that is even a german name. Maybe somebody with access to a german telephone book could confirm it for you. There is nobody by that name listed in the Volksbund directory although that in itself doesn't mean that it is not a proper name.

Wolfgang Semmer RKT
Hi, Would anyone have any information on Wolfgang Semmer. He won the Knights Cross in 1940 in France as a Leutnant In IR 85. There was a Wolfgang Semmer executed in Yugoslavia in 1948 and I was wondering if that was the same man ( this man at that time was a Major) and if so what was the crime that ...

Re: Can't identify uniform
This insignia, I think, is exactly like that for the Straßenbahn. The lightning flashes presumably indicated that they are electrified. I don't think you see those on the Reichsbahn. I've since found this link http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=512561 there is a link to a photo ...
