Mölders was a fine example of selfless service, no doubt about it. It is just a shame that the BMVg decided to strip his name from JG 74.

Re: Translation for Gefechtsruderganger.
A Rudergänger is a steersman on a water craft or ship, and Gefecht means 'combat' so I would say the duty position was
Combat Steersman.

Re: Trip to the Ardennes
Thanks for all the tips. Tom, I will have to take that bedroll idea under advisement. It sort of falls in the same category as ideas that start with "dig a foxhole"...

Re: More assistance
The word 'administration' is an all-purpose word, which in the military sense, covers paperwork, office duties, etc. It is often shortened to 'admin'. Since the passage had to do with a military activity, I felt it worked well.
The same holds for the verb 'flagged'.
Take care, Mark

Re: Plse trans. this song about gra'father who died in the WWII
This song is by Sleipner, which is a neo-nazi group. Here's a colloqual translation: It's one of those days when we're at Grandma's house, It smells of coffee and cake. We hang on her every word, her tears can't be ignored, When she talks about Grandpa. They all had a tough road to travel back then,...

Here is a colloquial translation: "He saw to most of the administrative details, which made things much easier for me. Therefore, I was able to drive out to a company each day and see to the most critcal issue, which I naturally flagged for further action."

Greetings! So, I'm flying to Europe for a couple of weeks in Sep-Oct and my plan is to spend about five days in the Ardennes. I want to focus on the area of the 6. Panzerarmee operations.
