Need English to german Translation

A friend of mine creates 'comics' for a small 'newspaper' and has an idea for a story line and would like to insert the following line in proper German: "Yes, I'd like two hamburgers, a small order of fries, and a medium coca-cola, please." Could a fluent German speaker please translate th...

Franz was the navigator (backseat of the Ju87s), Emil was the pilot. Therefore the german term "verfranzen" (getting lost - failing to do navigation). It was always blamed on Franz.

The "F" series was referred to as "Friedrich" or short as "Fritz".

Hi Helwik, You are mistaking Churchill's opinion of 5 July 1940 for policy Opinion? It most certainly was the "policy". However, the British lacked the "tools of war" to carry it out. Within 2 1/2 years Churchill's "opinion" was the policy put into practice. 1942 is th...

Hiroshima & Nagasaki should be in a new thread. Never the less, Admiral William D. Leahy – 5 star admiral, president of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff and the combined American-British Chiefs of Staff, and chief of staff to the commander-in-chief of the army and navy from 1942–1945 (Roosevelt) and...

Just to be clear, Churchill’s letter to Lord Beaverbrook, on 5th July 1940. "Nothing else will get the Germans to their minds, and on their knees, than an absolutely devastating extermination campaign against their homeland with heavy bombers." Read the above date, the British had already ...

Secondly, are there absolutely no conditions under which attacks on predominantly civilian targets are acceptable? None that I can envision. I am not talking about unfortunate collateral damage but the specific targeting of civilians as a policy. Understanding the technology as it was at the time w...

I bowed out of this discussion some time ago because it was apparent that it wasn’t a discussion but an argument with some who can't face the possibility that the allied "de-housing" campaign wasn't some grand "economic" strategy to win the war but to kill as many civilians as po...

As a long range "escort fighter" in the Battle of Britain it can be justly called a failure. LW bombers were slow and didn’t fly high enough. Locking the 110 to them as close escort was a mistake (as it was with the 109e). Had the 110 had the freedom of action and maneuver during BoB its r...

Luftwaffe Airfields Kurland/Courland Latvia 1944

I am looking for images of Luftwaffe airfields in Kurland. In particular airfields near the following:

Libau / Liepaja
Frauenburg / Saldus, Salsus
Windau / Ventspils, Windawa
Cirava
Schrunden / Skrunda
Tukkum

I am basically looking for how they were "laid out".

Shingo, Thank you for the information. I apologize if I put you in an uncomfortable situation. I understand this is the German Campaigns and Battles forum and assumed that all aspects (allied, axis and German ) of these "German" battles were open to discussion. If I was wrong please forgiv...

Achilles, No-one is comparing those bombing to Dresden. Of course he was, he mentioned those places several times. The implication was "so what if Dresden was bad, look what the Nazis did here". Professor Richard Overy's studies concluded that by 1944 1/3 of all artillery production was fo...

They only began to bomb German cities after Warsaw, Rotterdam and numerous Belgian and French refugee columns and London had come under deliberate attack. In this sense, although quite possibly illegal by their own League of Nations standards, if not German, British bombing was essentially retaliat...

A bit off topic but I am wondering if you have any info on the Soviet Armies involved in Kurland. I am designing a "scenario" for an online game based on the events in Kurland. It’s primarily based on the air combat aspects. I have been trying to develop the Soviet OOB but unfortunately ou...
