Re: German medics in WW2
Hello All, I just received a letter from WASt and while it answers some questions, others remain. I wonder if someone would be so kind and help decipher some of the abbreviations please: 1.) Under Erkennungsmarken: 443 - San.Ers.Abt.2 , 7136 - 3.San.Ers.Abt.3 and Krankenkraftwagen-Zug 340 the latte...

7th German army
Hello,
Can any-one tell me where the 7th German army fought during the Western Campaign? I know it was stationed opposite to The Maginot line, but did it really fight in France? When yes, where did it fight and what was it's course through France?
Thanks in advance,
Guy

Re: Daily doings of German soldiers
Hi, Since no one has responded, I will share what little I can. Troops from one div in France sometimes helped on the local farms. I would presume that was early on, as later reports show the men marching into the nearby forests to cut timbers for landing bech defenses after thier normal guard shif...

I was wondering what were the daily doings of the German soldiers in the lands they conquered? What did the soldiers do in the land where they were stationed. For example what did the German soldiers do in Normandy since 1940 untill the invasion? Did they had normal human contacts contacts with the ...

Re: German medics in WW2
And although carrying a pistol they all wore the red cross armband (exeptions proof the rule) You just confirmed a story I heard years ago! It's nice, so I'll post it here. My grandfather was working in Alkmaar, in a hospital as a medical NCO. During the winter of 1943/1944, my grandmothers mother ...

Invading Poland
Hello,
How old were the German Soldiers when the campaign to conquer Poland, began? And when the campaign in the West began?
German soldiers who fought in Poland, could they also be involved in the Battles in the West?
Grtz,
Guy

Before the ware the age was 20-21, after the service in the RAD. From 1943 on, boys from 17 year could serve in t...

Re: German medics in WW2
Since my grandfather was a medic (or, officially: a Sanitäterunteroffizier), I can tell you the following things. He was trained at Blankenburg/Harz (Heeres-Sanitäts-Staffel) for six months, after this course he was in Bückeburg, 3. Kompagnie Sanitäts-Ersatz Abteilung 3 for two months and was trans...

Hello Guy, Unfortunately the part of my site John refers to is not yet online again so I answer your question this way. 1 and 2: Can surely be answered by someone else... Can any-one tell me: 1) How long some-one needed to serve in the German Army before the outbreak of WW2? 2) How old were the men who were called to serve in the German Army before WW2? 3) Were the medics who were accomp...
